JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: Helping Montgomery Families Initiative Case Officer I

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is seeking to fill the role of Helping Montgomery Families Initiative (HMFI) Case Officer I.

HMFI, which is led by the Montgomery County District Attorney, is a collaboration of Montgomery Public Schools (MPS), local law enforcement, mental health professionals, and other agencies and organizations that focus on intervening in the lives of school children who have been suspended from school, disciplined for disruptive behavior, or truant.

The starting salary for this position is $39,518.

The HMFI Case Officer 1 is responsible for:

  1. Conduct home and school visits for completing an assessment utilizing the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale
  2. Develop an initial draft of the assessment summary
  3. Submit initial assessment summary to the Program Supervisor for review and discussion of interventions
  4. Present the case to the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) for additional interventions
  5. Develop of an Individualized Intervention Plan (IIP)
  6. Work with families, school officials, service providers, and other community resources to coordinate services, implement IIP and monitor compliance
  7. Provide intervention and assistance as necessary to youth and families
  8. Document all contacts with the families, school officials and service providers
  9. Track and monitor youth assigned to caseload
  10. Prepare written correspondence, forms and reports as directed
  11. Report all incidents that place youth at risk of harm to Supervisor
  12. Performs other duties as assigned
