Henry Wallace Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for 2019 Reckless Murder
Henry Wallace has been sentenced by Judge James Anderson to 20 years in prison for the reckless murder of Ty’Riq Moon, who was fatally shot when Wallace opened fire in the parking lot of an eatery near the Capitol Heights neighborhood.
On the evening of September 5, 2019, Wallace and Moon got into a verbal altercation with a group of people gathered outside the McDonald’s on Madison Avenue. The two young men returned to Wallace’s car to retrieve firearms, after which Wallace began shooting at the unarmed patrons. Moon was struck in the head and killed when he stepped into the line of fire. This senseless crime was captured on video surveillance footage.
District Attorney Daryl Bailey expressed his appreciation to Deputy District Attorney Grace Winans, DA Investigators John Brown and J.P. Wilson, Chief Victim Services Officer Samantha Stephenson, and Legal Support Assistant Joy Scott for their work on this case.
DA Bailey said: “These senseless, reckless murders have become far too common in our community. Week after week, we hear about a young person who pointlessly threw their future away because they felt the only way to settle a conflict was to resort to gun violence. They never stopped to think of the life-altering consequences of pulling the trigger. They never say, ‘I ‘m going to let this go and walk away.’ This mentality has to change, and it must start at home. Parents need to parent and become more vigilant about confronting the issue of gun violence. Know what your kids are doing and who they are talking to on social media. Know who they are hanging out with and where they are going. Stay in their business. Because it’s too late when you are visiting them in prison – or a cemetery.”
