Denardo Laster Convicted of Multiple Counts of Sexual Assault
Montgomery County, Ala. – A Montgomery man is facing life behind bars for subjecting his oldest daughter to multiple encounters of sexual assault during her childhood.
Denardo Laster was convicted this week by a Montgomery County jury of three counts of rape in the first degree, one count of sodomy, and one count of incest. Due to his lengthy criminal record, Laster faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
He will be sentenced on December 4, 2018, by Circuit Court Judge James Anderson.
District Attorney Daryl Bailey praised Deputy District Attorneys Marianalyn Dennis and Madelyn Mauldin for their outstanding work. He also expressed his appreciation to Chief Investigator Mike Thomas and Investigators Natalie Dixon, J.P. Wilson and John Brown. In addition, he thanked Victim Services Officers Samantha Stephenson and Carolyn Tyus for supporting the victim and her family throughout the duration of the investigation.
District Attorney Bailey said: “Denardo Laster preyed on the victim’s vulnerability. He is a truly despicable individual who deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars. As such, we will be seeking the maximum punishment for when he is sentenced by Judge Anderson next month. Our children and entire community will be a little safer with this violent criminal behind bars for the rest of his life.”
